Why I’m going on the World Race

I’ve always wanted to go on a “mission trip.” But more than that, I’ve always wanted to be involved in MISSIONS. There’s a difference. A mission trip is a one-time event, an activity you participate in, a group you follow around. It’s…well, a trip. MISSIONS on the other hand, is a lifestyle.

Yes, I absolutely want to go on a mission trip! That’s why I’m fundraising! But I also want my whole life to be a MISSION of service and love to the whole world.

I have talked to some World Race alumni and asked them lots of questions, and I believe the World Race has a beautiful view of what long-term missions should look like. Their goal isn’t just to send high-school and college-age kids on a vacation to a poor country. They invite young people to come live with, work with, and support full-time missionaries in foreign places for one month to a year at a time! World Race supports people who already share the gospel and help people abroad, and their hope is that many of the Racers will come back and go on future trips, join the World Race home team, or discover whatever other mission God has for them.

To be completely honest, I’m a little intimidated by the amount I need to raise: $3250. This will cover my food/logging/health insurance/travel for the entire trip, so I won’t be a burden on the missionary host family. It’s doable though, especially with your help! Every little bit counts. To put in in perspective, I will reach my goal with just 130 people donating 25 dollars each, or 65 people donating 50 dollars. Thank you in advance for partnering with me as together we follow the Great Commission!
